Hey, theres lots of fishes in the sea...but watch out for the Sharks!!98!! Talofa to all. My name is Janice Laumata McCoy. I am from the island of American Samoa. I was born and lived here all my life....incredible 18 years already!! I graduated from Samoana High School in 1998, shouts to all the Sharkies especially the Class of 1998. I figured it would be fun to do something new so we could get together and talk story eh!! Well its not much for now but come back ever now and then and I'll keep you posted on the new "faitatala" thats going around on this rock.
So far the American Samoa Government is still battling with never ending stories of misused funds! Today,(April 22nd99) in the newspaper an article caught my attention. According to the story, a woman left Western Samoa to come here and get married..but...she found out that he was still married and **BOOM** shot him in the village of Faga'alu at Grey's Laundrymat. People are getting braver by the minute and just leave it to our obviously hopeless government to top it off. A month ago about 11 people were charged with fraud at the WIC office....what happened....they got leave with pay!!Nice they steal and they get the vacation thats paid for. I do not put Samoans down, nor do I do it on purpose, but its the obvious things that make me sick. Here have a grand and take the day off!!!lol!!!You cannot run to anyone here. Half of the police department do drugs, hospital staff, along with people at our ASG!! And you wonder why? Things will never change, home is beautiful but the people have lost the meaning of honesty and our culture. Samoans have manipulated the Samoan culture to get what they want. And this is how it is!!!Other than that, hey we're getting a freakin' McDonalds down here already! Not exactly heaven, but hey its better than nothing!
